Creating Value with the Biorefinery Approach
At ABPDU we apply the biorefinery approach by combining the necessary technologies for fractionating and hydrolyzing biological raw materials with conversion steps to produce and then recover intermediates and final products. Processes are typically developed and optimized individually, and then combined into a process chain with crossover regimens, sometimes using by-products or waste materials from one process to produce high value products or chemicals needed for other processes. The focus is on process integration, intensification and economics, and achieving high yield according to the specified quality.
Excellence in Bio-Process Execution
Offering the smallest pilot-scale equipment for robust process integration, our facility has biomass pretreatment and enzymatic saccharification reactors up to the 210 liter scale, and fermenters up to the 300 liter scale. All our reactors are equipped with data logging and process control instrumentation. For every stage of biofuel and bio-based chemical production processes, we provide material and energy balance data to define parameters for scaling from lab to pilot production. In addition, we provide statistical, life cycle, and techno-economic analyses to assess the commercial feasibility of specific technologies.
