Chong Wing Yung, Ph.D.

Program Manager

Chong leads the Cellular BioAnalytics research group, developing analytical tools and modeling frameworks to construct digital twins of cells for biodesign. Before joining ABPDU, he spent 14 years at Agilent Technologies, last serving as a Distinguished Scientist and Senior Program Director of University Relations and External Research. In this role, he managed global academic collaborations supporting the innovation pipeline for all Agilent products, with oversight spanning analytical instrumentation, informatics, and consumables. Within Agilent Research Labs, he led the invention of novel metrology standards, advanced 3D cell culture capabilities, and algorithmic upgrades to improve sensitivity on the Seahorse platform, as well as developed commercial CRISPR technologies. In his early-career at Genentech, Chong conducted GMP scale-up operations and research for the biomanufacturing of antibody-based pharmaceuticals, including Avastin, Herceptin, and Rituxan.

Chong is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering’s U.S. Frontiers of Engineering and serves on multiple university advisory boards. He has 4 issued patents, 12 pending applications, and has authored 13 peer-reviewed publications.
