ABPDU’s Chang Dou Receives AIChE Shining Star Award

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ (AIChE) Local Sections Committee and Career and Education Operating Council have recognized ABPDU’s Chang Dou as a 2025 Shining Star Award recipient.

The Shining Star Award recognizes “long-term volunteerism” in the AIChE community. Dou currently serves as the Vice Chair/Chair-Elect in AIChE’s Northern California Local Section, one of the largest local sections in the US. In addition to his local section leadership, Dou has also contributed at the national level through his service on AIChE’s Food, Pharmaceuticals & Bioengineering Division Committee and the Management Division Board.

“[Dou’s] leadership has fostered collaboration, connected professionals across experience levels, and provided valuable networking and growth opportunities,” the organization wrote. “His efforts have laid a strong foundation for continued expansion and inspired others to get involved.”

Dou will be honored with the award at AIChE’s Annual Meeting this November in Boston.

“AIChE has been a cornerstone of my professional journey. It is not just a platform for advancing technologies, but it is a community that has profoundly shaped my life. Through AIChE, I’ve met incredible mentors, people who have influenced my thinking and broadened my perspective on chemical engineering’s role in global challenges,” Dou said. “I am proud to contribute to an organization that not only pushes the boundaries of engineering but also champions sustainability, innovation, and the growth of its members.”
